Our Cottages
Allison Homes Association is a non-profit organisation based in Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal Midlands, South Africa and a resource to senior citizens over sixty years of age.
There are five secure and well-maintained separate complexes; four in the CBD area (272 cottages in total) and the fifth is in the suburb of Boughton (46 cottages in total). All are within the city of Pietermaritzburg, which is situated in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal Midlands in South Africa.
Allison Homes enables our residents, the majority of which come from lower income groups and are predominantly state social pensioners, to live independently in clean, secure, comfortable, cottages allowing them to maintain their dignity and self respect in a nurturing environment.
They are part of a community that respects the individual but creates opportunities for get togethers. There are no imposed schedules or activities. Some of the residents create and offer services that give them a purpose, as well as meeting their community’s needs at very cost-effective prices.
Residents have access to caring individuals who are deeply concerned about their wellbeing. There is 24 Hour emergency medical response.
Allison Homes is managed by a well established and resourced NPO. Income is derived mainly from monthly levies from residents, with shortfalls being financed from donations and bequests. The Allison Homes’ assets are managed by a Board of Trustees with the day to day operational functions administered through a registered Association of elected members, all volunteers, as well as a full time staff complement. It must be emphasised that Allison Homes receives no subsidies from government. We rely totally on our own resources for our survival. Assistance from all sources, whether financial or in kind are welcomed.
Frail Care
We do not have frail care. We have entered into an association with PADCA and we have preferential access to frail care facilities situated at SUNNYSIDE PARK HOME
